In a land of lost wonders, the past is stirring once more . . .
Gene's life resembles a debutante's dream. Yet she hides a secret that would see her shunned by the nobility. Gene is both male and female. Then she displays unwanted magical abilities - last seen in mysterious beings from an almost-forgotten age. Matters escalate further when her parents plan a devastating betrayal, so she flees home, dressed as a boy.

The city beyond contains glowing glass relics from a lost civilization. They call to her, but she wants freedom not mysteries. So, reinvented as 'Micah Grey', Gene joins the circus. As an aerialist, she discovers the joy of flight - but the circus has a dark side. She's also plagued by visions foretelling danger. A storm is howling in from the past, but will she heed its roar?

I had NO clue what I was walking into when I decided to read this book... and, in this case, that was totally okay with me. I don't even know how I'll be able to express how much I love this book but this book (and the author) has definitely became my 'insta-read' forever.

This book focuses on two people- Micah Grey, a runaway who has decided that he finds life in the circus much more interesting than where he was in his former life, and Iphigenia Laurus (or Gene, for short) who is royalty and could honestly care less about growing up and finding a new suitor to live with for the rest of her life. The book focuses on two of these people's lives and they cross throughout the book.

Wonderful protagonist. Lovely setting. Most of the side characters that have been seen through the book have been well thought-out and they felt quite realistic to me. Believable struggle for both Micah and Gene and nothing felt out of place.

In short, this book is wonderful. I can't recommend this enough.
